🗞️AI Research & Insights
OpenAI introduced new features on Tuesday, allowing ChatGPT users to disable their chat history with ease and confidence.
When the chat history is turned off, conversations will not be used to train OpenAI's models, nor will they appear in the "history" sidebar, the company shared in an upbeat blog post. OpenAI will retain new conversations for 30 days, but will only review them if required to monitor for misuse.
The introduction of these new controls follows a recent incident where a glitch briefly allowed ChatGPT users access to other people's conversations. Moreover, Italy became the first government to ban the chatbot due to privacy concerns.
Additionally, OpenAI announced a user-friendly option on Tuesday, making it easier for users to export their conversations and discover what information is stored within ChatGPT. Users who choose to export their chats will conveniently receive the data as a file via email, the company said.
ChatGPT represents a significant advancement in chatbot technology, as it can automatically generate text based on written prompts in a more sophisticated and creative manner than previous Silicon Valley chatbots. Since its launch in late November, ChatGPT has become a viral sensation, with tech executives and venture capitalists singing its praises on Twitter, even likening it to Apple's groundbreaking iPhone release in 2007.
OpenAI revealed on Tuesday that they plan to launch a new ChatGPT Business subscription in the coming months, marking an exciting milestone for the company.
